Crew Meetings & News

Venture Crew 2727 is now running regularly scheduled meetings with the opportunity to achieve all the ranks available to Boy Scouts up to and including the ranks of Eagle Scout and the Ranger Award. Female members are welcome to join but their rank advancement will be limited to Venturing awards including the Ranger Award.

Did you know?
You can start your Eagle Scout project anytime. You don't have to wait till you achieve the rank of Life Scout. Get your Eagle Scout Project completed before November. Don't wait till the snow flies! Spend the winter knocking out Merit badges. If you just reached the rank of Star Scout you could be joining the Ranks of Eagle Scout just one year from now and much sooner if your a Life Scout. Don't let the grass grow under your feet! Let's all keep forging ahead.

May 30, 2008 Meeting
The Crew meeting will be held at the Gallucci residence. (351 East Village RD) beginning at 7:00PM sharp. Mr. Melodia would like to have a few minutes to address the Crew. He has important information to convey regarding advancement in the Crew. Class "A" uniforms are not required for this meeting. All of the Crew gear will be on hand and needs to be gone through and checked for completeness. This should only take about a 1/2 hour or so. It all has very little use so condition should be a non issue. We are also planning on deep frying french fries and corn dogs as well as having a bon fire. Maybe we can convince Mr. Melodia to prove that he has not forgotten how to cook! If everyone brings a log or two it would help. This meeting will officially end at 8:30 PM but you are welcome to hang out at the bon fire later if you wish to.

Summer High Adventure activity

July 13-19, 2008
Summer Camp, Strang Scout Reservation.
The Crew has reserved Algonquin for Summer Camp this year. Chuck will be attending camp all week as Crew Advisor. Paul Richard, Gordon Harris and Don Melodia will be helping out on a rotating basis. Should be a great week for all to enjoy. We will bring our Crew gear including the dining fly, patrol box and stove, so prepare for some awesome evening crackerbarrels.
Be sure to bring your partial blue cards and merit badge books. You should get your partial blue cards from Mr. Mingrone as soon as possible so you can prepare to finish them in advance.
Reminder of items to bring:
Bug repellent, mosquito netting, sun block, sun glasses. partial blue cards, merit badge books.
The above mentioned are in addition to the obvious essentials needed for a week at camp.

Sept. 2 - 4, 2008
Labor Day Family Campout at Strang Scout Reservation. Goshen Fair, tag sales, hikes to Mohawk Mountain, fishing, canoeing, swimming, big screen movies, volley ball and more. Open to all Housatonic Council families. Admission $2.00 per person. Great way to support our council. Call the scout shop (734-3329) for more information and reservations.
